Joe Akmakjian, 25, is the Muscular Dystrophy Association's National Ambassador. He has shaped his career around his vision for an inclusive world. His overriding goal is to normalize the concept of disability. In addition to his ambassadorship with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, he is available for hire as a public speaker and public relations and communications consultant.

Joe is a Colorado native who has lived in Fort Collins, CO, since before his first birthday. He was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy at 15 months and has used a power wheelchair since he was three. His diagnosis hasn't stopped him from living independently, getting a degree from Colorado State University, following his dreams, or even skydiving.
